Artificial Turf Base Preparation in Calgary
This Calgary project prepared a side-yard area for a future artificial turf installation while adding a practical walkway through the space.
The existing grass and soil were removed and hauled away before weed barrier, road crush, and limestone screening were supplied and installed.
The base materials were spread, compacted, and leveled for the turf installer. The photos show the completed base and walkway; artificial turf installation was not part of this scope.
Scope of Work
What We Did
The work rebuilt the side-yard surface from the ground up to create the layered, compacted, and level base needed before artificial turf installation.
Removed the existing grass and underlying soil from the work area
Hauled away the removed grass and soil
Installed weed barrier across the prepared side yard
Supplied and installed the road crush base layer
Supplied and installed limestone screening
Spread, mechanically compacted, and leveled the base for artificial turf installation
Installed the walkway across the prepared side-yard base

Artificial Turf Base Preparation Scope
The project combined removal and haul-away with layered base installation, compaction, final leveling, and walkway installation.
Grass, soil, and haul-away
Existing grass and soil were removed from the side yard and hauled off-site before base work began.
Weed barrier installation
Weed barrier was installed over the prepared subgrade before the aggregate base layers.
Road crush and limestone screening
Road crush and limestone screening were supplied, spread, compacted, and leveled for artificial turf installation.
Walkway installation
Walkway stones were installed through the prepared side-yard base as part of the completed scope.
Final Result
The side yard was converted from patchy grass and exposed soil into a clean, compacted, and level base ready for artificial turf installation.
The installed walkway provides a defined route through the prepared area while the road crush and limestone screening layers support the future turf surface.
